Things seem to be moving so fast! As I said in the last blog, we have decided to build the house with a pod. It is not a tiny, tiny house, in fact, I think it is the biggest Shaye has built to date.
But what is Tiny?
The tiny houses you see online vary from Tiny mansions to Tiny teeny! I saw a lovely example on line - It related it to budget - Expectations vs Reality! Especially these days with the building costs in New Zealand reaching 20% higher than pre-pandemic times.
I think we might come under severe scrutiny from some of the Tiny extremists but "Tiny" is differentiated by situation. In our case, it is 1 hyperactive husband, 3 grandchildren who I hope to entice for sleepovers, 2 dogs and the fact that we enjoy lazy Saturday mornings, coffee and biscuits in bed, watching golf. We have to accommodate all that.
Our house is just over 45m2 including the pod. You would fit five of our houses into one pretty standard 4 bedroom house these days. So I think we achieve the "Tiny" qualification.
We have built the pod on a trailer so that it is easier to move the whole set up to a new location if necessary. (Still holding out for Lara and Andrew to buy their lifestyle property.)
We have everything from our wish list in the blog Designing our Tiny house. The only thing we need now is somewhere to park it.
So what is the build sequence?
First of all you have to set up the trailer.
Insulation then building wrap and finally the 18mm ply.
